Fellow citizens of the United States, the day I thought I'd never live to see has come. The economy is in crisis, and for all its good intentions, the federal government is compounding the problem. While claiming to fix the economy, it is only making matters worse. The time has come for us, the American people, to step in and fix this mess. This is a crisis most of us have not seen in our lifetimes. An economic meltdown compounded by an out of control government. Not simply out of control, but arrogant to the point of ignoring sound fiscal principals. What can be done?
Well power can be taken away from Washington D.C. and placed back in the hands of the people, where the founding fathers always intended it to be. Let the call go forth throughout the land. If America is to endure, it's up to us to rescue it. It's time to stop the insanity.
The United States has the largest most powerful economy in the world. But it is not invincible. Even it will falter if enough damage is done to it. And that's exactly what is happening now. Washington D.C. has been chipping away at it for years. But now it is taking large chuncks out of the economy. A $700 billion bailout last October at taxpayer expense; a $787 billion "stimulus" bill in February at taxpayer expense; a $410 billion omnibus spending bill containing $8 billion in earmarks and an 8% increase in spending over last year (inflation now sits at less than 4%).
The United States Congress currently enjoys a large majority of big government spenders. And there is no sign it plans on slowing down. Already, talk of a second stimulus package is under way and government run nationalized healthcare is also in the works. Where is the money going to come from? The country is now running a $1.75 trillion deficit. That's one and three-quarter trillion dollars added to an over $10 trillion debt every single year. Money that we do not have; money that our children and grand-children are going to be responsible for. And our political leaders ignore our calls to slow down and even reverse this nightmare.
Phone calls haven't stopped them. Protests haven't stopped them. Debate hasn't stopped them. Washington has all the power. The only thing that will stop them now is a greater show of power. We are the American people. We are the builders of the economy. We are the creators of wealth. And we must put a stop to this financial hemorraging. Cut off the circulation to Washington. All their power, all their spending comes from us. Our tax dollars. But they cannot spend what they do not have. Cut off the tax dollars and we cut off their power. We send them the message that we have had enough. It is the only message that might make them take notice.
